The 2025–26 School Year runs from Monday, August 25, through Saturday, June 27. For a full list of important SCD dates, please visit our Calendar.

Come Soar is all about encouraging creative expression through dance in a non-competitive and positive way that fosters confidence.
Our Dancing Ducklings, Friendly Finches, Dazzling Firebirds, Beautiful Bluebirds and Graceful Swans classes will help young dancers learn balance, coordination, rhythm, and more!
Our Come Soar classes are dynamic, engaging, and most importantly, FUN! We use poems, stories, creative props, and music along with an introduction to dance technique basics.
Graceful Swans is the highest level of our Come Soar Program for preballet and is for dancers age 6-7 years old. In Beautiful Bluebirds and Graceful Swans, we use a curriculum grounded in SCD's belief that imagination is key in dance and that incorporates the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.

Elementary I & II
Our Elementary I and II classes encourage students, of 7+ years of age, to bring their curiosity and imagination with them as they begin exploring classical ballet.
Level | Time | Monthly Tuition |
|---|---|---|
Elementary I | Wednesday 4:45–6:00 pm | $110 – 1 class/week (5 hrs/month) |

Elementary II | Tuesday 4:30–6:00 pm | $210 – 2 classes/week (12 hrs/month) |
Thursday 3:45–5:15 pm | ||

Elementary I & II classes create a strong foundation for ballet technique as dancers gain strength and develop control of the correct muscles to master the physicality and art of ballet.
In addition to being an exciting way to build coordination, body awareness, and muscle strength, our program provides a positive outlet to have fun, express emotion, and foster confidence.
In Elementary I, students choose between one or two classes per week. This level is based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Grades 1 and 2 syllabi.
The 2-year curriculum for Elementary II is based on the RAD Grades 3 and 4 syllabi. Musicality and performance can now be studied more in-depth and foot, ankle, core, and back strength are stressed as students prepare for pointe work.

Students continue to enjoy the process as classwork becomes more challenging and their confidence, discipline, and artistry grow. They’re encouraged to deepen their understanding of ballet as a performance art, applying musicality and interpretation. Training emphasizes strength development, coordination, and ensemble work, preparing dancers to move cohesively as a corps de ballet.
With the introduction of pointe work and more demanding technique, safety remains a top priority. To support healthy progression, SCD has established age minimums of 11 years for Intermediate I and 13 years for Intermediate II.
Students can expect to spend a minimum of two years of training at each level in order to master the movement vocabulary of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Grades 5 and 6 and Intermediate Foundation syllabi as well as the foundational training for pointe work in Intermediate I and RAD Grade 7, Intermediate, and Advanced Foundation syllabi in Intermediate II.
Students at this level might attend a summer intensive outside of Sonoma, which can be used to supplement SCD's Camps or as an alternative to them. Students who have an interest in pursuing dance professionally and/or dancing in college are strongly encouraged to attend summer intensives associated with established ballet or dance companies.

Our Advanced program allows for individuals to assess and work on their distinct strengths and goals. They continue to work with peers to gain experience dancing as a core unit, or corps de ballet, as well as dancing leading roles in our twice-yearly productions. Students also continue to explore their personal responses to music and choreography to encourage the unique development of each dancer.
At this level, as the technique becomes more demanding, including pointe technique, safety remains a top priority. To support healthy progression, SCD has established an age minimum of 15 years for Advanced.
Students can expect to spend a minimum of two years of training at this level in order to master the movement vocabulary of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Grades 8, Advanced 1, and Advanced 2 syllabi.
